Her history gone waaaay back at... 2007, when Mystic acquired her very first Pokemon game : Sapphire.
When she was training around route 116 with Palm, she encountered a female Skitty. Seeing that she haven't got Skitty's dex data, she caught it. Since then, Amini has been her partner for Palm, her female Sceptile, during battles.
