Irene's first Pokémon and the one she has the strongest bond with. She got the Pokémon from a man that sold Torchics in a big Pokémon convention; Uriel was the last Torchic left, because of some hereditary leg problems that would have never allowed her to rely on kick-related moves, something quite unfitting for a future fighting type. Irene didn't really care for battling, but Uriel did; it was her determination to fight that finally convinced Irene to become a trainer.
Uriel's personality is similar to Irene's, except that she is not shy or self conscious. Or at least, she can hide it well.
