Named after the Protector, Guardian, and Mentor of the Jellicle Tribe featured in CATS (The Musical) as the primary narrator of the play, coming from the poem by T. S. Eliot "The Naming of Cats". While defending the younger kittens he almost single-handedly defeats Macavity, The Mystery Cat and villain of the play. The pokemon shares his color scheme with the character's costume from the movie.
